Ballard Stock Bolt

I had to remove the butt stock from my Cody Ballard and through bolt (actually and long screw) was frozen in place and I had to drill off the head to get everything apart.
Now I need a new screw/bolt.  Tongue
The one I removed appears to be a rod with a threaded end and a large slotted head welded on to it.
I suppose if I had the slotted head, I could get it welded.
I’m not one to make things or weld them (although I can get the welding done).
Can anyone help?
Embarrassed
Mike.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I make them myself by buying 5/16 long bolts from my local Ace Hardware. They have a 5/16-22 thread and store bolts are 5/16-18 or 24, so you have to thread them to the correct tpi. I've not checked my Cody Ballard to see if they stayed with the same tpi as Marlin did, or if they went to a more standard 24 tpi? But the 5/16-22 is an easy die to find, and not too expensive either. Think I paid $10 for mine.
I turn the hex heads on the back side to the angle to match originals, and cut a slot with my hacksaw. I don't worry about turning the hex heads off round as they fit fine as is.
If the Cody Ballard if NF 24 tpi it will save you threading a new bolt shank.

I believe CPA lists them in their miscellaneous parts and not that expensive

CPA lists the Marlin Ballard as 5/16X22 that is what I have in my drawings from what I have seen with Cody Ballards they used off the shelf taps to make there rifles so I would bet they would be 18 or 24 TPI ken

Thanks, everyone.

I looked at the CPA web site and their screw has 22 TPI.

Using my precision, wooden yard stick, I was able to determine the Cody Boys did the same so I'll order one from CPA.

Thanks again for all the input.

Mike.
