ID assistance needed

At 1st glance it looked easy.  Farrow, Savage, and Winchester all used this ladder on one or more of their rifles. Sporting Leaf Sight.  However all of those had dovetails on the base with a pointed finial.  The divots up the left side are another question mark. Ladder is marked to 800 similar to the Win 73.  Stroebel doesn't help much past the above.

I would say its a SMITH sight. The detents on the side to hold slider are the give away. I believe they are no longer made. Google shows a couple of them.
Pedersoli also sells one like it. in their catalog for Sharps sights.
Someone removed the bluing to age this one.

I agree with Tom Trevor,. It’s a Sharps Military Rifle Sight. Not a Shiloh or an original with those detents , so I would say Smith as well.

Interesting, as I have just the ladder off another sight that does not have the detents along the side.  Unfortunately just the ladder.

Kenn,

I had a similar sight new quite a while ago from Cape Outfitters that had those divots up the side.  I don't recall what I did with it, but I do remember they described it as a sharps long range barrel sight.

I'd be with those that think it's a newer reproduction, rather than an a period original.

I sold one like that here on the forum last year. It is modern made for the Pendersoli Sharps reproduction rifles. Yours is for a round barrel.
