Elk hunting vs fishing

Back in the 60's my dad took a hunting trip to Minnesota for Elk. It turns out the weather was way too hot and dry to hunt them so Dad turned to fishing while he was there. He caught so many walleye and yellow perch at the Lake of the woods he called my mom and told her to buy a freezer.
Then the weather turned colder but Dad had already sent his 30/06 to the airport. The local bait shop owner had a Winchester 1885 in 45/70 and rented it to him. He downed a 6x6 elk with it at less than 200 yds two days later. We had good game eats for a long time after that trip. Cool
I often wonder if that bait shop owner became a SASS member!  Roll Eyes

Irrelevant, I know...

Riding our recumbent trikes thru the park, up on the dam ... view of a golf course ...

Mark Twain? 'Golf, a good walk wasted.'

Hunting ... a comic somewhere... hunter being 'molested' by bears...

'You don't come here to hunt, do you?'
