Can you control the temperature?  You will need in the neighborhood of 1300*f.

Most glass furnaces operate at around 2800 degrees, so hopefully it has a potentiometer that controls it and can be set lower in the 1300 range. Otherwise it's too hot for color case work.

Gentlemen, thanks. This furnace has a burnt out heating system and, I see, it will need to be replaced with one that will meet the case hardening requirements. I have not seen it yet, and when I do, I know I will have further questions!
