Different 22RF ammo

Print Post
I picked up a box of ammo today at a flea market, that I've never seen before.

I tried to get a picture of the head stamp but, it didn't show up. It has the same stamp as Wolf Match.

Anyone see this stuff before?

Entry level match ammo. Shot lots of it when I was shooting Bullseye Pistol. Worked good in that application.

I'd be surprised if SK is made by Eley - It has the same 'lube' coating as all the lapua stuff, not the typical Eley lubricant.  The SK website even states them being part of the nammo group - which includes Lapua: "Other commercial ammunition brands within the group are Lapua, Berger and Vihtavuori."
The PRS crowd here actually uses SK for training and lapua Midas and Center X for competition - because it has the same lubricant type.  Mind you, I also shoot SK rifle match and long range, and it is pretty accurate indeed.

I think Wolf is now made by Ely and SK is still made by Lapua.

I think Old-Win is right. The new Wolf Match Extra made by Eley doesn't shoot as well in my rifles as the old ammo made by Lapua.

I did some ammo testing in my heavy barreled 22 s yesterday. A Stevens Pope low wall and DST cast Ballad. The winning rifle gets an all expense paid trip to Spokane at the end of the month. SK pistol match shot best in the Ballard. The local 22 bench rest crowd was keen on it a few years back and one shooter gave me a box to try.  I bought a brick from Midway last week for $95. It will get a good workout at the match at Tommy Mason’s Stars and Stripes range this year.

I haven’t lost all my marbles yet but there is definitely a hole in the bag somewhere.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!
