Did anyone else look closely at the results chart posted in the latest Journal. It showed 7 of the top 10 shooters (including the first 3) were shooting Borchardts. The only Hepburn (shot by a shooter named - Hepburn!) came in 31st out of 34. I guess their time had passed.

Check the calendar dates on the appearance of Hepburns.  Mr. Hepburn may have been shooting the prototype.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Good point. The Hepburn was a brand new offering from Remington in 1879.

If I remember correctly - ever chancier at my age - there was a thread here about Dick Binger owning either a very early or possibly prototype Heburn and that it was the rifle Hepburn short during the 1879 tournament.
