Interesting scope block

I got this block in a large lot of scope blocks.  It looks to be designed to offset about 3/4". It has the small hole for a Winchester style scope mount.

I haven’t lost all my marbles yet but there is definitely a hole in the bag somewhere.

Wonder if it could work on a trapdoor? Or maybe custom for someone that couldn't see out of their right eye, so it moved it to the left?

It would have been nice to have two of them.  I will have to dig my trapdoor out of the safe and see how the barrel diameter matches the curve of the scope block.

Maybe for the use of both scope or iron sights….

bpjack,

Where do the mounting screw holes exit on the radius side?

It appears that they would interfere with use of the dovetail.

Update.

Gents,

More pictures of that base are available on Ebay under Offset Side Mount Scope Base Block - UNERTL - Redfield - Lyman

The mounting screws are not parallel to the top of the base.  It appears that the mounting screws are about 45 degrees from horizontal and center in the radius.  Other than that, no idea what it fits, but more are available.

There were a  small number of Lee Enfield No.1 Mk.III sniper's rifles made up in WW 1 with Winchester A5 scopes offset to the left with a block mounting to the action like this one and another up front mounting to the sight protector uprights.

It's been over 30 years since I had my hands on one but I remember how hard it was to add a third leg to the windage/elevation equation in my head.

Sorry I didn’t see your question Hayface. Yep that eBay listing is the same as the one I got in a large lot.  I was going to sell mine on eBay, but I will wait until this one sells.
