Long time project getting finished Stevens 44 1/2

Print Post
Some might remember this project from 4-5 years ago.  Around three years ago it was to be engraved by Linecutter, who was a member here.  But unfortunately, at the time I was to send it to him he passed away.  So it took some time to find someone to engrave it.  Some here know I'm now using Diane Scalese, her husband Bob is a member here.  Since I had other guns that were current projects when I found her, she did those first.  One being the Sharps Pistol Rifle and the other the Fraser Miniature Rook.

This post is really to show the engraving she did on the gun, but I am showing some pictures of the gun to refresh memories, and so those that never saw the gun can see what it is.

Sorry, pictures are not all that great!

This is a completely hand made gun, tang sight and palm rest.  It is a copy of a Stevens 44 1/2.

It will also be on my table at the Colorado Collector show in a couple weeks.

When I get back home it will get checkering and case hardening of all the parts.
Bob

Bob, be sure to set towards the back of the table so that the drool won't fall on it!

Man, how I wish I could get to the Colorado show, if for no other reason than to admire what you've done.

Thanks guys.

I’ve been asked a few times now if this is a CPA that I built the gun around.  A CPA is a heavier action than an original.  But, this gun is totally copied from an original action, too the original spec., but better steel.

Here is the original post on building this gun.

Vall, yes, it will be there.  I originally did not think Diane would be done this soon, so had not planned on it.

This has to be easily the highest quality Stevens 44 1/2 ever made.  Beautiful work, Bob!
