Removing Japanese finish (Browning)

The high wall I recently purchased has a number of nicks/gouges/scratches in the finish. Is there a good way way to remove the finish?

If your rifle is not in 7.62 and you can't hit what you are aiming at with de-linked machinegun ammo you are a pretender.

On the wood? I just use a commercial paint stripper. Use a stiff brush on the checkering. De whisker and use red scotch Brite or grey before refining. NEVER use sandpaper its to aggressive!...LK

Lots of the poly type finishes are tinted, so you might find the wood under the finish to be a much lighter color.
