What was I thinking?

In a confused state I bought another 32-40 but then I realized that it wasn’t a high wall which is what I always buy. Maybe I can just call it a high wall since people at my local range think all falling block rifles are Sharps.

That's a Stevens 44 1/2 Jack. I have one in 25 Hornet. When you get it in hand look closely and you will see that it is much different than a 1885 Winchester. Stevens even made them as high quality target rifles. My son has one that is a model 51 in 32-40.  It's good to see you are broadening your horizons even if it was by mistake. Now go read some books while you wait for your plunder to arrive.   Smiley

You got it for a very good price depending on the buyers premium.  Smiley

"J. Stevens Model 44 1/2, .32-40 cal. lever action drop block rifle. Serial #1299, mfg. 1906. Very good condition. 26" half round barrel has an excellent bore. Blade front site. Adjustable tang peep sight. Lever action drop block and hammer are functional. Reblued finish is 95% with some fading to the receiver and lever. Smooth Schnabel forearm and stock appear to have been sanded and refinished with a small chip in the forearm. Crescent steel buttplate. A fine J. Stevens drop block! Gunrunner West item." Take heart Jack, life will continue as before. I too have a Stevens 44 1/2, mine is a 218 Mashburn Bee. I don't think you got hurt.  Cool

Jack did get a buy on that rifle. I paid 1200 at a gun show for the same rifle and caliber about twenty five years ago. The bore in mine was good but had about .004 taper. Could not hit a 200 yard ring target at 100 yards with it. Got donated to my son who made good use of it.

Might be a good candidate for my Stevens 368 scope.
