Marbles Tang Sight

My recently acquired sight does not have a positive detention in the vertical position.  I haven’t tried to take it apart yet to see what I can find but wondered if anyone had any suggestions.

Thanks

Jack

I think the one I own simply uses the strength of the spring to center it. Maybe the spring is collapsing or is clogged with some crap on yours. Nice looking rifle Jack.

Yes, send it to Mike Maraccini 906-774-7731.
Mike cleaned out the old Marbles factory parts after it closed and moved, so he has all the original parts to fix Marbles sights.

it's been sometime lossen the center screw then you will need 2 wrenchs to rotate one or both of nuts. Dont take the screw out. I have not done this only seen it done. I had a bag of 3 or 4 sights sometime back that where all take a part and a friend told me he had all the parts and tools to fix them he had them all back together in about 30 minutes I took one apart and could not get back together in an hour or did but didnt work right.he is long gone. ken

Smart move Jack   Reminds me of an antelope hunt in the middle of nowhere Wyoming, threw a timing chain, hitched a ride after a looong walk to Jeffrey city, borrowed tools, ordered chain from Rawlins, slept overnight against a wall, a local was kind enough to return me to said truck. After tearing the front apart etc. and back together, had three bolts left over. They were all still in the glove box when I sold that 73 Power Wagon many years later. I had little choice. Glad you did!!

I still plan on selling it, if not here on eBay.  I don't like selling something with issues without fully disclosing them.  I actually have one that is identical and is currently on my newest rifle a 40-65 auction find. Now to get in some range time.

Mike Maraccini called yesterday and said he has fixed the sight.  He said it looked like it had been taken apart more than once.  The repair was only $35.  Thanks for the recommendation Vall.

Glad he could fix it, and is still reasonable pricing.

I have used Mike to repair  an old school Marbles Tang sight, as others stated he has a huge stockpile of parts for these old sights, (not the current issue). He is a fine gentleman and can fix most any problem with Marbles sights at a very reasonable cost. Many Thanks to Mike he does great work and I highly recommend him Mike Maraccini 906 774 7731 Iron Mountain Michigan.

I've sent Mike a Marbles base and had him build up a complete sight from just a nice base.
