What to do with this latest action is going to take some head scratching.  Even if the 40-65 barrel that is coming with it has a good bore, I have a very nice CCDST action with a new barrel on it that I am shooting.  The 28 G&H barrel still did not shoot well today so that is out.  I need to buy a new barrel or two I guess.  What caliber is the question.
Including low walls, I have:

.22rf - 2
22 Hornet
25 WCF
25 Hornet
28 G&H (a custom Wes Turner design)
30-40
32-20
32-40 - 3 complete, 1 extra relined barrel with a bad chamber
32 Miller Short
33-47
32 RKS - when I gets back fro the smith
38-55
40-65
45-90

Yep, I guess I am a Winchestertarian

If that barrel has a bore problem but indexes up to your rifle, send it to JES and have it opened up to 45-70.  A pretty inexpensive way to fill your missing number

I have a 30-30 but it is a pre-64 model 94.  Making one from a high wall is a thought though

The description sounds like the barrel in this kit has a great bore at "9 out of 10" described. I'd probably leave it at a .40-65 as I think that's a great cartridge and have 4 or 5 of them now.

I will be thrilled if the barrel is in great condition. I have been happy with my latest parts built 40-65 my first in that caliber. I had purchased the barrel on eBay a couple of years back and it was threaded for a high wall with no dovetails for flat spring or forearm. I finally decided to put it on the coil spring action I bought at auction that came with a 30-40 Krag barrel that did have proper dovetails.  The eBay barrel must have never been used as the shank was 1/8+” too long. After cutting to proper length and 5 minutes with a borrowed reamer, it is shooting great.  I will know in a couple of weeks.
