What’s a good case to protect a Mitchell scope? I’m needing about 28” x 6” x 6”.

Those cheap plastic toolboxes work great with some foam inside to pad the scope. I use one for my Swarovski spotting scope. But doubt you'll find one 6"x6". But if you add foam you'd want larger width and depth anyway. 
Dewalt has a 28"x11"x11" that sells for under $45 and might be even cheaper shopping around. #DWST28001 It's also watertight too!

I've found  hard cases in the archery section of sporting goods stores that are designed to protect arrows from damage.
There may be something there for you in proper size.

4 inch PVC pipe cut to length with an end cap and a threaded cap on the other padded with high density foam works for my Unertl's but a 6 inch piece could be made up just as well.
