Looks nice!  Wood work is my least favorite part of gun work, so I understand the pain in making something beautiful.

Very nice, but I’m curious about what appears to be a piece of bicycle inner tube wrapped around the scope.

What dat about? Not allowed to adjust scope power in a match?

This rifle ejects the cases with extreme force denting the scope - inner tube is a barrier to reduce impact from the cases being ejected.

The inner tube slows the cases so the guy on the next bench gets hit instead of the guys on benches further away.

Nice job!  Looks great but I’ve been hearing some negative chatter about CPA’s stocks recently.  Looks like you did ok 👍🏻

In the past I have received excellent inletted stocks from CPA that were excellent duplications of their original stocks.

This stock was NOT inletted for a receiver when they had stated "Buttstock is 95% shaped and inlet for the frame".
This stock was extremely rough from chatter from using unsharpened bits leaving ridges and gouged holes.

It took a day of trying to straighten out the misaligned stock bolt holes since I could not align the nut sliding in a different direction than the bolt was aligned.

They drilled at different angles from each end of the stock causing a major problem trying to get the nut started to tighten the stock.

I hope the new CPA owners can correct their problems and reinstate the quality previously shown by the previous owners.

The poor quality of this stock caused me an additional one week of hand labour to correct.

The stock I got was a pistol grip stock for a Rolling Block Sporting Rifle. It appears they somehow maybe went home partway through shaping it as the external shaping and size was great, but the inletting for the tangs was shifted over 1/4" off in depth!
The top tang recess was maybe 1/8" deep, which isn't a big deal. But the bottom tang recess inletting was over 1/2" deep and that caused huge issues. I had to cut thin strips of walnut and glue them into the lower tang to build it up until it fit. Then I could begin taking wood out of the upper tang inletting to get the tang down below surface. It should have been a little high at both tangs, not too low and too high as they did it.
I should have just sent it back, but I'd already waited too long to get it, and wasn't sure the next one would be any better if the same person did it.

Wow, your stock looks like CPA shaped it by beaver teeth.  Yikes!
I've only had one bad experience, about 30+ years ago on a Ballard/Schoyen stock cut on my wood.    The outside was nicely done but the through bolt/tang holes were 3/8"+ offset.  I had to hog out the tang and do a lot of extra work.  Turned out great but wow, what a PITA.
I should have sent it back but this was a blank I had picked out for this rifle

Marlinguy: CPA Pistol grip for Rolling Block received in 2014. It was a perfect fit and of excellent quality back then. A real loss of knowledge and expertise when we lost Paul Shuttleworth.

I should have sent my BSA blank back but it took four months to arrive and I had to pay duties to bring it into Canada.
