It sure does. After 15 rounds she will bruise me a little. With the pad not a problem.

Just for your info, a caliber survey was done by Bert Hartman, an authority on 1885's. He had access to the Winchester records at the Cody Firearms Museum. His findings were that out of 106,300 rifles ( which took 10 years of research ) that only 43 were chambered for the .405 Win. A very rare caliber. Neat 1885.  DT

This is a special gun but in a different way. It has a very low serial number 98xxx, single set trigger, medium and fine lollypop peep sight. When I bought the gun, the barrel showed to be a 30 US. The cost of the gun was less than a peep sight. After inspection of the gun, I found out that it had been rebored to 405 Winchester. Thanks for the information I did not know of the rarity of the 405.
