I was trying out aa few high wall hammers yesterday to see which one gave the better trigger pull, when I noticed that the hammer only went to 1/2 cock or so I thought.  Nope somebody reground the full cock notch.  I guess I will have to see how it works.

The test will be if it consistently delivers effective ignition. Time will tell.

Jack, if it's weak, you can add a extra leaf to it, if it's not a coil spring hammer.

If it's a flat spring model you can drill a hole in the barrel and stick a coil spring in it under the flat spring. Like an overload spring on a truck.

I have a spare block the is drilled for a coil spring. How about a dual spring action.  I will have to thunk on it a while.

Use pistol primers Jack. I think they are supposed to go off easier than rifle primers.

when I was in gunsmithing school it was a specialty within the two-year machinist program. When I came up with stuff like this the head instructor (over all, not just the gunsmiths) use to say; "Damn gun kranks, measure it with a tape measure, mark it with chalk and cut it with an axe.."

The school had a design for a belt sander that required you to take a foundry class to produce the raw castings. One day I came in and three hours later had a sander that functioned easier and with less parts than the schools'. First thing he said to me was: "where is mine?"

If your rifle is not in 7.62 and you can't hit what you are aiming at with de-linked machinegun ammo you are a pretender.

This is where a tig torch comes in handy. You can build up the area using piano wire. A vertical mill with a carbide end mill will shape it as needed. Just did an 1893 Marlin hammer last week.
I noticed the half cock is missing part also.

Zero interest in fixing it as I have several other hammers both standard and fitted with a fly.
