I am new to this forum. , Own a Shiloh Sharps and Uberti High Wall both in 45-70. Anyone in forum living near Charlotte NC? Also, need someone to help remount a vernier tang sight on the high wall. Willing to send it wherever to get it mounted properly. Using an MVA sight. Thanks, Tump

Is the tang drilled and tapped ? If so MVA probably has a base to fit.   If not it needs to be D&T  & best sent to a single  shot gunsmith. I don’t know if any close to you. If mailing I would use John Taylor. There are a few other tips on tang sights send a PM & we can exchange phone numbers

Afraid I can’t advise on SS shooters close either my clubs in central Virginia.  Mo

The best thing is to get an MVA base for each rifle. My Sharps base will work on my original high wall but I have to turn it around.  I now have two sights so I don't have to switch so often but I have at least two other rifles with bases.  The main thing is when you have the base installed is to adjust the sight so that it is vertical perpendicular to the bore.  This is easy to do on an MVA base and just takes a screwdriver. MVA can give you instructions on how to do that.  Hopefully you have globe front sights and if not I would suggest getting one on each rifle.  Sharps does not use the typical 3/8" dovetail. Nothing rocket science about sight installation if the tang is drilled and tapped.  Good luck and welcome aboard. Tom

I don't think I've ever seen an Uberti High Wall 1885 that wasn't drilled and tapped to accept a tang sight? Should just be a case of ordering a sight specifically for the Uberti so you ensure getting the right threaded screws and simply removing existing screws and replacing the sight with screws that come with it. Not really something you'd need to take to or send to a gunsmith.
