Hello and good morning! I would like to know what the thread size and pitch is for the lever pin set screw on my 1885 Winchester Winder Musket?

Thanks, Scott

If that screw is the same as a standard hi and low wall, and my guess is it should be. MVA should have that screw and very possibly CShaprs as well.

Thanks! I checked both with no luck. I also checked all the standard parts suppliers, Apex, GunParts Corps, and such. No luck as well. Midway USA has 6-48x1/8 slotted head set screws for guns. I might try some of those.

Those screws are prietty easy to make. Find a standard 6-48 screw and cut it to length. Stick the small piece in your drill press then polish up the end and that will also show the center of the screw head. Use a knife blade needle file to make the slot. Probably about 20 minute job.

Thanks! I had thought about doing just that.  Smiley

I somehow ended up with a tiny knife edge file designed for sharpening fishing flys. I use it to get the slot started.  I eventually use the thinnest Dremel cutting disk in my (new to me) flex shaft that I picked up here thanks to SSDave.

MVA's screw is $2 cheaper than Wyoming Armory.  I just measured one of mine and it is .185.  A bit longer than a standard plug screw.  This eBay item might do the trick.  They don't say the size but indicate that they are too long to fill a barrel sight base hole.

I just ordered a set of 4 for $7.31 shipped with tax.

I had that same set in my watchlist! Just ordered them. Thanks!

My screw measured almost the same length.

$7.15 for me shipped.
