If I am making fixed ammo, 38-55 using 4227 17 grains do I need a wad placed above the powder .002” ? Can I use a Walters veggie wad ? Or no wad at all?

No wad at all.

All gave some, some gave all.

I agree.  No wad necessary.

That’s what I started to think. Too long breech seating. I made a few with a wad, should I pick them out or just leave them? Thank you

I would remove the wads.

In testing, my 38-55 with 4759 was more accurate with a .030 Walters fiber wad at the base of the bullet like a gas check.

No need for wads with that load.
