Custom wood for a trapdoor

I had a trapdoor come into my possession that Bubba tried to make a target rifle out of. The stock and barrel had been cut to 30" but the bore is great it just needs sights and a better stock. I tried treebone carving but they don't offer anything for trapdoors anymore. Is there anyone else out there?

Dunlop Woodcrafts in Chantilly, Virginia.

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

He has a variety of wood types and figures available and does very good work at reasonable prices.

How about this? Cut for the standard round barrel. Looks good with a 26-28" barrel. No trigger inlet to allow a choice of triggers.
PM me if interested. I can get one cut for $200.

I like the look of that one John.
Is it still a .45-70 or something more exotic?

I bought a "sporting" stock from Treebone a few years ago and then they were 350.00 Sent it to a guy to finish fit for me and he didn't do what I asked and wouldn't refund me any money. I was so disappointed I found another stock and cut it down myself. Looks decent for my limited skill. It is in 40-50 BN. Hung the other one up as a reminder to double check a mans work before spending money. Expensive lesson... Your gun looks good. Will finish up nicely.

Yes, It is a 45/70 with an original barrel 26" long. It is now finished and rust blued with the addition of a tang mounted sight. I'm sending the stock off next week for checkering.

I made the pattern from a screwed up Bishop stock I bought on ebay some years ago. Some wood additions,  some Bondo and some rasping and I had a good pattern.
I've also got a straight grip pattern with a Hawken style cheekpiece for a Gemmer style trapdoor.
