Browning Traditional Hunter?

I ran across a Browning Traditional Hunter in 30-30 and thought t might make a nice gun for stalking. I have had a couple of the Browning BPCR's in the past and the quality and accuracy were quite good. Are the Traditional Hunter models up to the same standard? This one has had the blade front, rear barrel  and tang sights removed. In their stead is a globe front of some sort and a unknown (Pedersoli?) tang sight with a block in the rear sight dovetail in the barrel.

If your rifle is not in 7.62 and you can't hit what you are aiming at with de-linked machinegun ammo you are a pretender.

I picked up a Winchester/Miroku traditional hunter in 45-70 that got me started in silhouette. Scores were as good as the BPCR I am using now, but recoil is definitely more noticeable on the lighter rifle.

I definitely prefer it to the Ruger #1 in 45-70 that I recently sold. I am likely going to be selling the Japchester though as I don't use it anymore and want something new

I have a Winchester/Miroku traditional hunter in 38-55. I only used it for side matches in cowboy action matches. I shot pretty good and it is a nice looking rifle. Much lighter than my Browning BPCR in 40-65.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I have a friend who owns one in .38-55 and with his 315 grain loads he's able to do pretty well even at 1000 yds. And at 650 yds. it's extremely accurate.

They're good rifles with good barrels. All they really lack is a good trigger, but that can be improved I'm told. In fact, one of the three Traditional Hunters I have (had 4 but sold the 45-70) in 32-40 came with a trigger reworked by Steve Durren, and it is excellent. The 30-30 Traditional Hunter is one of the less common chamberings, and mine shoots great with some of my handloads.
