Years ago I had a Ballard with a Bushing like this crude drawing. All edges were beveled and the wedging of the block halves held it firmly. Has anyone seen it before. Mine was an original block but also converted to a non-hammer / striker style.

Scharfe,

I've never seen one like that before but Rodney and I were discussing this modification this spring at the Greeley show, I applied it to a Ballard build I'm doing (and have been shooting this summer/fall).  Here's a photo of a couple of my breech blocks.  There are more than a few now in my mess that incorporate a similar feature.

Once upon a time... I had a very skillfully reworked Ballard in .22LR that had a 2-pronged firing pin where the barrel was still on center. FP struck both at 6 & 12 o'clock. Somehow, I managed to NOT get a picture of that before it left my possession, BUT I did get a pic of the barrel face...
Maybe Moody can help us here... Wink

I have a Marlin Ballard that has a steel plate that dovetails into the face of the breechblock and converts the rifle to a rimfire.

Jeff, Is this firing pin what you are referring to?  The one side is broke off on this one.

Thanks Bob for sharing that picture... It may very well have been one like that. I wish I had taken more pictures
