Liner ordering

Has anyone ordered a liner through Track of the Wolf?

These liners are TJ‘s.  Since it is impossible to get a call back from TJ’s, I am considering ordering through Track.

When ordering through TJ’s, if I remember correctly you ordered your barrel length and they sent an additional length as required.

When ordering Track says to order the length you need.  I talked to John at Track this morning about the length question, all he could tell me was I will get at least the length I order…..they are obviously just order takers.  The liner will be sent directly from TJ’s.

So do I order the length I need plus an extra inch or more, or just order my barrel length?  The simple thing, of coarse, would be to order the extra length.  Not trying to be cheap but I hate to order the extra and then it automatically comes with the addition length anyway.

I am hoping someone here has some experience with Track ordering liners.

I've ordered liners through Track of the Wolf,it seems to me there was a little extra length to the liner than what I ordered.  However,it has been a  long time since I ordered one. Just remember that you'll pay a little extra for the liner using Track of the Wolf as the middle man.

It’s much easier to add an inch or two when ordered and have some to trim off than it is to stretch a liner that is too short…

I stand with the proposition of "having too much is better than not enough"...The extra $ spent is not wasted...it's insurance money for "Piece of Mind"...

Wish I could get ahold of them so I could order direct.  Been able to in the past but not for the past few months.

If I didn’t want to save this old Ballard barrel and caliber, I would replace the barrel.  It’s a 40 cal, 30 inch barrel.  And….I choke a little when I can buy a new 32 inch BRC choked barrel blank for about $50 more than this liner at $252!  Cheesy

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Too late now, but in July/August all the Green Mountain barrels were 20% off and I got a .40 caliber full octagon 35" 14.5" twist barrel for $260.
TJ's sells by the inch and a .40 caliber is I think about $6 an inch, so I'm cheap and wouldn't order more than an extra inch myself. Not sure why anything more than that would be needed.

I always order 1" longer than the barrel. You can save money by ordering direct,

Mikes son Todd is now running the business.
Ask for a price list to see what he has, it also includes air gun barrels.

I remember your post on the pricing Vall, thanks.  But, I wanted to leave the original barrel on the gun and see how the liner ends up working in a bigger bore.

The latest price list I have is from April, 2020.  And the liner was $5.20 then.  I figured a little under $8 wasn’t too far out there with all the price increase’s we’ve had on everything else.

Be nice to see a current list.

John,
I’ve tried both, phone and email, with no success.

Just sent an email to TJ’s telling what I needed yesterday afternoon. (Friday)  just received a reply today (Saturday) from Todd stating that he will send me an invoice and ship my order early next week……
Great service!

PS it was a 22 liner…

I got an email this morning also.  I now wonder if I didn’t slip through the cracks a couple months ago. I have also had good service from them in the past, but had not bought a liner from them for at least a couple years, so I thought maybe they went the distributor route to lighten up on the interruptions to their work. I got impatient, figuring I wouldn’t be contacted again.

Got a new price list in the email and it’s definitely cheaper to buy direct!

Bob, I think he answers emails only one day a week and also ships only once a week…
I know if several businesses that work that way, but, it shouldn’t take months.
Just tried to call Kenn Womak yesterday about some Remington parts, the answering machine said “ I’m on safari I won’t be back until the 25th of August”. There’s no getting a hold of him…..
Maybe the Lions ate him!😂

Kenn Womack is back.  Maybe he just didn’t change his answering machine message.  Grin  I got parts from him the first week of September.

I can’t tell you how happy I am that they got back to me.  Because, I was also somewhat afraid that they were on the way out or may be selling to someone else. Just didn’t want to ask.  Don’t know what we would do without them and their liners!
