When you see things like this on gunbroker, or at a gunshow, and wonder how they got to where they are, this is an illustration and explanation of it.

I did what I could expeditiously to make the stock usable.

This is for an older fellow, mid 80's, and until a few days ago, he was thinking he had less than 6 months left.  No ability or interest in investing either time or money into learning to make and fit a stock.  He just wants it to go bang and be complete so he can shoot it and then have it working when he departs this earth.

I'm just doing this as a minimal favor to him, and don't want to invest the time in a custom stock for what is made a very low end gun by the barrel on it.  Not to mention delay him having it back and shootable while I do that work.

So, that's how these things come about.  Here's the accommodation I did for the mis-fit buttstock.  It'll be ready for him to shoot tomorrow.

That might be a straight grain stock on that 922,but it's a handsome one.

I’d be telling some tall tales if I didn’t admit to having done similar patch jobs.  Some of the worst jobs I’ve done have been jobs for friends or family.  At a bare minimum it makes for a shootable rifle.  Better than nothing, but sometimes function wins over form.
