	Hi all, does anyone know of a valid reason not to bore and thread a small shank highwall out to a large shank? I have a small shank action that is a mix and match bunch of parts and would like to make a 40-70ss or 45-70 and feel I would need the large shank barrel.

	Years ago John King installed a new Badger barrel on my small shank action and chambered it in 45-90. Nothing through it except BP loads. I have never worried about it. Jack

	It was my first high wall and I knew nothing about them. It was a .22 rf with an $3 weight unmarked barrel and would not shoot a good group at 50 yards no matter what I fed it. I bought it to have it converted anyway. Back then John King came out to shoot the 2 day BP matches in Tacoma, and I brought it for him to take back to Montana. Th eforst thing he mentioned was the small shank but shrugged it off when we discussed what my plans were for it. I had some plain wood drop shipped from Treebone and a Badger octagon barrel shipped to him as well. It came back to me about 8 months later. It was a masterpiece and shot very well when I could see iron sights. Jack
