We'll need to know your groove diameter. The old groove was .380+ and the new (not really new, it's the 375 H&H) groove of .375.

With black powder a charge of 45-47 gr of 1 1/2 swiss and a 310 to 320 gr bullet will do quite well for up to 500M or so. A postel style bullet is good for longer range. If you can find one the Hoch tapered bullet is pretty good out to 300M.

360gr BACO bullet out of a 1:12 twist Pedersoli with 15grs 4227.
Same bullet with 49gr Swiss 1.5Fg

Both extremely accurate out to 500m in my rifle. You'll need a 1:12 twist though.

I've read similar loads with the 330gr offerings too.

Thanks, all. I should have specified for use at 200 meters.

A load of 15.0-18.0gr SR4759 (if you have any) or 15.0-17.0gr IMR4227 (with LR primers) for 200yd shooting has always worked well for me using bullets in the weight range you stated. If you are shooting a Ballard, reduce powder charge by 1.0gr from my stated loads. Most accurate load for your particular rifle will obviously need to be determined by load development.
Black powder or duplex is a whole 'nuther animal. For straight black powder loads, nuclearcricket's load stated in his response is a good place to start.

There are indeed two Americas. Simply put, it is not the haves and have nots. The two Americans are in reality divided into those who do and those who don't.

Thanks, Randy. I still have a good supply of 4759 and a lot of 4227 so I will start in your suggest ranges. No problem with rifle strength.
