Whilst I am working on my Borchardt project I wondered other than the 45-70 Govt round what they originally were chambered in? I have found any manner of rebarrel calibers but little on original.

The 4th book on Sharp's rifles concerns the 1878 Borchardt in depth. It is not close at hand now, but I will attempt to make copies of the information you want. It is a wonderful book, well worth having.

Thank you for the information. It appears all the original rifles were either 40 or 44 or 45 while none were in .375 caliber. While it is a built gun I may have the only one in 38-72. There is also a gentleman on the site who is doing one in of all things 50-90. I wonder how many different caliber rebuilt guns are out there.

My apologies for not getting the info you needed to you sooner, but Seller's book had the answers thanks to JSB30.
