Is there one particular bullet that seems to shoot out of the Shiloh Sharps 45-70 better than others? So many choices.

I also am in the hunt for some 45 2 7/8" brass if anyone knows where I might pick some up.

Thanks

My dad has settled on the 530gr Lyman postel in his Shiloh. Recently we tried the 525 Money, and it was ok to 300m, but fell apart after that

I have a Hoch copy of the Ideal 457125, the original Government bullet, which seems to shoot well out of all the .45 blackpowder rifles I have to at least 600 yards.  But my go-to for .45 grease groove bullets is the Paul Jones 540 gr Creedmoor, which is good to over 900 yards, at least.

Jones is out of business, but Buffalo Arms makes a copy of the mould.

The Postel bullet shoots well too, from my Lyman mould.  I found the Money bullet didn’t shoot as well, for me at least.

I have had very good luck shooting an original design Postel bullet. My mold was cut by Walt at NEI, and sadly that company has passed away. The Creedmore and the original 457125 bullet are also excellent choices.

I have a Shiloh in 45-90 and have been shooting the BACO
459535m3 money sized in lee push though sizer to .458 out to 600
Yards and have some good results. Have not shot I any further yet.
It is cast with 16/1 and drops out at 526 grains. Most people are casting the money bullets with 16/1 to help the nose from
Slumping. Have also shot same bullet in pedersoli 45-70 to 200
Yards with 10 shot groups in 2.5”

3 bullets I have found to shoot well in my Shiloh 45/70’s are the saeco 645 cast from 20-1
The 525 money bullet and the .446525m paper patch both cast from 16-1 the paper patch bullet wrapped in Seth Cole 55y
The original postel from Buffalo arms copied from an original mould cast from 16-1
All have shown to shoot quite well to 1000 yards

Out of my Shiloh 45-70, 1 in 16 twist, the Buffalo Arms bullet JIM459535P1 shoots well out to 800 yards.  I cast these 20 to 1.
