Need a .40-70 FL sizing die

I have a modern reproduction Model 74 Sharps BPCR, made by CSA. It is chambered in 40 cal 2 1/2, aka 40-70 Sharps Straight. I have lot of (150) Hornady 405 Winch cases that I've been shooting since 2010. Over time the cases have changed slightly to the extent that some are difficult to chamber. Every fall I clean, anneal and trim them. I borrowed a RCBS full length sizing die but it doesn't contact the case enough to change the case.

Lyman no longer makes one, CH4D could make one in about 29-months. Redding is out of stock with a 5-9 month wait. Forester doen't make dies that large.

So I'm "hunting" for a FL die. I'd like a Redding but if someone out there has one (besides RCBS) that they'd consider selling, I'm all ears.

Thanks!

Tom

What's wrong with RCBS?  I have their 40-70 SS dies and have used them for almost 30 years with no issues.

THE die I borrowed and no longer have access to, did not alter the case enough to allow proper chambering. My experience is different than yours.

I would call RCBS first and ask their experiences with a CSA chamber.

I bought a Pacific .40-70 Shiloh chamber reamer and using .405 win. Hornady brass still had to rework the web in front of the rim. Tedious but got through all 200 cases.
