If it comes down to choosing between a little extra time in Cody, or moving on to Billings just for that gun show, stay in Cody for the Winchester show, hands down. From there, it's not all that far to Helena, could even zig zag through Yellowstone, before heading on up. 

It's not the worst idea in the world to check out Montana pawn shops, if you're in Helena for a bit.
