Journal Arrived Today

The May/June issue of my SSR Journal hit my mailbox today.  It was a tout de force of historical info, especially the articles on Creedmoor and the Zettlers. Thanks to Editor Joe Dobrzynski and the contributors.

The Journal has been flowering since Joe took the helm. My next comment may well create some backlash but I believe it’s something that needs consideration for the benefit of all members, who read.

The “ Journal “ and its Editor & Chief have taken the helm and in so doing been able to shape  this publication into something worth a whole lot more than members are now paying. The ‘ Journal ‘ is now on par with other magazines drawing hefty sub rates for less info and print quality. If we like this level of publishing it wouldn’t hurt to pony up a few more pesos.

I would be OK with that.

Just got my latest Journal and I’m afraid I under-stated. It’s a jewel that is being cut and mounted for discerning ASSA readers. It is another feather in Joe’s hat.

This publication is no fluke. Joe has had to reach out and cultivate material along with Brother writers. The fruit is woven into pages of compiled experience and data from historic accounts and members past and present. Printed on high gloss paper, generously illustrated and formatted for future research it honestly is a first class publication.

I think you’ll find new members paying-on just for the Journal. I’m sure there are those aboard who think I’m blowing some smoke up Joe’s butt but gentleman I never met the man off page. But I appreciate quality work and would be the first to donate if it’s necessary to keep the Journal moving

I just joined due to this thread. Been going to for a while but these reviews got me motivated. Maybe I will get Lucky and get this back issue first.

Being an editor is a very difficult and thankless endeavor, but you have risen to and surpassed all expectations. I too would be happy to increase the membership fee to help compensate for your efforts.  Thanks, Krag

i found this issue especially interesting due to cover photo and story being about a shooter from my hometown.
he had to be related to my former employer.  there is reference to a range called elk park, i haven't been able to find any info on it.  also scorecards from denver matches, would like a bit more about him,
thanks for a great issue,
hugh wilson, trinidad colo.
