I believe it to look “too pronounced” because you’re looking at a very tight cropped close up. I think when it’s seen in the context of the whole rifle it would not appear to be pronounced.
Just my opinion
Cheers Richard

You guys are giving me too much credit.  Cut my teeth in a Job Shop where the rule of thumb was "Quick and Dirty"
General Set Up: Close to the Chuck as possible.  Back Gear which gives me about 35 rpm.  Tool Bits just a Blond Hair above center.  Feed in by hand slowly, let it cut freely.  Tool Bits were roughed out and then finished with Mounted Stones in a Dremel.  Pointy Bit was used to break the 90° edge at the Octagon.  Bits were held in an "Armstrong" holder as that made adjustment easy.  I like the idea of Sperate Bits as I can make changes to sizes easy. Oh, one last thing, I did a test run on a Barrel Stub first.😉

Concerning your method which I like, however access to wire cutters is not common. Or at least at this time that is true, but maybe not forever. Some of you may find this interesting: (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)
Happy wire cutting. Smiley
