I am looking to purchase a seating die for my 38/55.... up until now I have been using a std set of RCBS dies .  What do you recommend and what are the pros and cons.
Thanks
Craig

I love the Vickermans for ALL jacketed bullets. Special innards are needed for oversize cast bullets.

Whichever you can find in today's sparse market. When I had several .38-55 rifles, I had both RCBS and Redding dies. The Redding dies are better for finished product, but the RCBS dies are entirely adequate.

Unfortunately Wilson dies are not available for the 38-55 for the same reasons Vickerman are not. If one has a lathe and chamber reamer, a die could be made to seat a dedicated diameter cast bullet. the same could be said for the Redding straight line competition seating die. For breech seating, all this is mute. And for seating Jacketed bullets, the same is true. All depending on ultimate use.

Meacham would have to be found used as he is no longer in business and Vickerman are only sold thru Buffalo arms. They have been out of stock for some time now.
