Who do we actually and reliably have making custom molds for our needs now?

Has anyone ever used accurate molds ? It seems they have the options to spec out many custom molds. You can build you own or choose from a catalog and tweak it to your liking. They offer them in aluminum, brass or steel. Lots of options! I have always used factory molds but the rifle I just got is going to require a custom mold and I believe I will order it from Accurate.

I have ordered a few from them and he allows you to set a plus or minus cut on dimensions , they are nice well made molds , his catalog has a lot of different designs ,and he will make a mold to your design with some limitations like meplat .

I own several Accurate molds that I got from Tom. Easy to order online and his work is great. Don't try calling him though as Tom is almost deaf.

Dont't rule out Buffalo Arms Co.  They altered one of their .32 moulds to my Stevens-Pope dimensions...has proved to be the most accurate bullet in that rifle.

Is Brooks still in business?

Is there any other mold maker that can do a spitzer, with a meplat of .050 or smaller?

The trouble with Accurate is he is limited to a meplat of .180 not so bad for a 40 cal but for a small mold, it makes more of a wad cutter out of it.

I'm not sure of adding a meplat, but Buffalo Arms can definitely make you a spitzer.   They make a 200gr 32 cal money bullet which is reasonably pointy.  From what I remember it's an extra $10 to customize the band and nose dimensions.

I'm pretty sure Brooks is in business still.  He made me a modified version of the Hoch 322200 with a 0.050" meplat.  He does make spitzers.

Did you start with the 185gr tapered bullet with the big .327" base band?  I've been thinking of getting a custom version of that one to fit a couple of original highwalls.

I looked on Buffalo Arms site and I didn't find anything they make, below 32 cal.

Will they make a 25 or 28 cal mold with a .050 meplat?

I have used Steve Brooks to make a 33 cal mold for me but, in my case, I was very disappointed in what I got, compared to to the drawing that I sent him.

This is what I sent him and the dimensions that the bullet casts, are below the bold dimensions of the original drawing.

It didn't shoot as well as the PJ 1.22 lg, my NOE 1.135 lg or, my custom cylindrical mold that was recut from Lyman blocks.

Thanks.

Regarding the previous post about Brooks molds, mine came out a little different than the drawing I sent in, but it shoots well.  The difference on mine is that it was spec'd with driving bands all the same width, but he made it with the first two bands ( nearest the base ) being wider than the rest.  It is a good mold though, and the other dimensions matched what I wanted.
