Trying to Reach John Campbell

Hi, newbie to the site here. I am trying to get in contact with John Campbell, the author of The Winchester Single Shot Rifle books. Based upon what I see in his books, he has a collection of 1885 Winchester drawings. I'm looking for an original drawing for the .22 rimfire extractor, sometimes called the "flag type" or "half-circle" extractor. Nobody makes these and I'm seriously thinking about making them. I know there is a need for them. Anyone with an all original rifle that has a broken extractor pretty much owns a walll-hanger unless they can find a used one. So, if John is a member here, please give me his screen name so I can PM him.

I have reached out to Cody. Looked at their digital archives and did not fing anything of much help. I do need to revisit Cody and try to find someone who knows more about the Winchester archives.

Thanks for any help.
regards,
Rob

Have you contacted MVA? I believe they sell the .22 extractor you're looking for. Not shown at their site, but I seem to recall they have them if you call and ask.

I also tried to contact him some years ago. Was told by someone that his interest now are fancy Double barrel Shotguns. Who knows. I gave up on contacting him.  Dale.

At one time the late Frank Zika had a bunch of that sort of stuff.  Maybe his friend Laurie Gapko knows where that stuff went after Frank passed away.  He might also have something in the ASSRA archives.  He is our archivist.

Shouldn't be hard to reverse engineer one and create your own drawing.  They're not a particularly complicated part.

Reverse engineer one, and then compare to a half dozen others to see where the tolerances may lie.
