I have used the Green Mountain catalog  #WL221628 for the #4 Remington in the past. It is about the perfect barrel for that application. If it is a takedown action I thread the receiver and then octagon the receiver ring to match the barrel flats.

Thanks  singleshotsam. So I'll take it, that there's enough meat on the receiver to do this?.

I see by your picture that your receiver is Octagon to fir the contoure of the barrel. Mine is not.

I octagon the receiver ring after installing the new barrel. I have done over a dozen of these and always had sufficient metal on the receiver ring to match the barrel flats.

One of the last series of #4 rollers that came through the shop. The #4 makes into a wonderful 22 plinker.

singleshotsam….how are you dealing with the takedown hole in the frame?
Have a #4 laying in the shop I’d like to do something with.

singleshotsam:. It appears by what I can see in the photo that you've creating a plug of sort where the lever pin went. Milled it down the except the threading, and milled down the ends that would protrude on the outside of the receiver.

Is that about right?.

Yes, that is about right. A stepped pin is machined to fill the takedown lever hole welded in place and then everything not needed is machined away and the receiver threaded.

If you going to order one of these, it's not coming to you with the receiver ring octagon. Just be sure of that.
