Winchester 1885 wood question

I realize there's different styles of stock sets depending on the application, but do Winchester 1885s use the same stocks and forearms regardless of whether it's high wall, low wall, or caliber?

If I wanted to replace the wood on a Winder or Model 87, would any 1885 stock set work?

From reading I’m led to believe the last model Winder was made using 1885 High Wall actions that were milled to Low wall.

A typical low wall stock is thinner in the tang area. Last night I tried a high wall action on a stock designed for a low wall and both the upper and lower tangs were significantly higher than the wood.

As Grandslam said, the winder low walls use highwall wood. As bpjack said most of the other low walls take thinner wood.

low walls with flat sides are thinner than High walls. model 87's and flare sided low wall's are the same as high wall's
