Hubalek Rolling Block pistol

After much delay and silliness, I finally got the Model 1891 Remington Rolling Block Target pistol today! Wont go into all the details, but seller didn't make things easy, and lots of confusion.
I of course had to take the grip panels off to see how Hubalek modified the tangs to go from a one piece grip with disconnected front and rear tangs, to a fully enclosed style grip. So here's what I found!
The pistol as it is:

The grip panels removed:

The grip frame is two halves that were spliced to the existing front and rear tangs by thinning the original tangs by half, and the donor grip frame by half, and brazing the two together.
The new grip frame was then split straight up through the bottom center, and a screw runs in from the front half into the rear half to connect the two. A filler block was made to fit inside the new modified grip frame to support the panels. So this is now a 3 piece grip. The center block has holes for the two grip screws and two alignment pins also fit into two more holes per side. Looks like Hubalek wanted the grip extremely solid, and it is. He also worked the trigger over to a very fine crisp, lightweight pull.

Neat modification and well done of course.

Does this gun have the sliding extractor or rotary?  I have no clue when the sliding came into use.

I watched that pretty closely, and gave some thought to bidding. Probably far better in your hands than mine.  Smiley

However, if it ever goes up for sale (doubtful) please keep me in mind!

Cool pistola

Yes, as Ken said it's .22LR. Stamped just ahead of the forearm like Remington rifles were also.

Thanks. I'm always afraid when bidding on something that I might be bidding against another person here. JerryH pointed this one out to me just after I'd bought my 1867 Navy Rolling Block pistol. Had I seen this one first I might not have bought the Navy .50, as the Target pistols interest me more.
I still am interested in finding a Hubalek Ballard some day, but at least I have a Hubalek pistol for now.
