A cry for help

Occasionally I get an email where someone needs help. I'm not close enough to punch him in the head, or I would.
Surely many of us have gone through this. Below is the email and the picture file. Let us say a prayer for this horrid wretch.

"I have an addiction.....I can't stop buying rifles, I'm in the process of buying a 32-40 highwall that I need really really badly, in fact I've needed it for the past 40 years or more. I think it's in my DNA. I should have become a drug addict, and then I'd have needles and stuff instead of all these damn guns. I used to criticize my father for having so many guns, but I'm really worse than he was. You need to punch me in the head. I buy bullet molds too. Are you looking for any bullet molds? I open drawers and find bullet molds that I have no idea where they came from. I like pistols too.

Stop me!!!!!"

I to am an enabler.
Only one more???
I find that if I buy my gun for the month, early in the month, it mellows my urges...
Sorry Wes, there is no cure.

Yes, our friend is in bad shape. Since I can't be there to punch him in the head I suggested to him that he had but two courses to try, First is to take a Irish Catholic woman for a bride. She will get rid of them guns... Or 2nd is to take a Chiquitta chick babe for a bride. One that shares his interests in firearms and can also divert his attentions in other directions. When not cleaning his guns she can make fresh home made tortillas and beans. Myself, if I was forced to, I would opt for the 2nd having been down the Irish Catholic path myself.

Robert Crumb, distorted pervert that he is, is my kinda guy.

Ye Gods and Little Fishes, I thought I was alone. I'm a classic insomniac, laying in bed staring into the darkness solving gun issues and plotting more of same. Even when I sleep I dream of the stuff - last night I dreamt about arguing with someone about bore diameters......

I should've called Westerner or cbashooter for help/advice.

I told myself that I was done with buying guns for the foreseeable future. Dang it, I fell off the wagon and I bought a 16 gauge side by side yesterday. Shocked

If I had the finances which I don't I would have many more than I have so I sympathize. "It can be a habit an addiction" as Jimmy Stewart said in the movie The Shootist. My wife gave up on trying to keep up with my new purchases. If I bring a new one in the house she immediately asks where did you get that? I tell her what this old thing well I have had it for ages and it usually works. When I am gone I fear one of the biggest yard sales my neighborhood has ever seen...

My problem isn't buying guns, it's bringing home yet another project:

"I always wanted one of these and this one is pretty cheap.  All I gotta do is get it fixed..."

I have pretty much taken care of my other problem.  I now have a gun for every set of dies I own.

We'll see how long that lasts.

A temporary cure is for him to stand with backside against one wall, bend over at the waist, then begin running as fast as he can until his head hits the other wall. Repeat until all thoughts are gone, or he's knocked himself out.
Way cheaper them professional help.

The cure for that Joe is to stop sending emails to yourself and take Vall’s advice.

Looks like a good place for another Guns Anonymous chapter. I’d help with the startup but I’m currently on a six month suspension!

Well Wes at least your son will appreciate many of your single shot rifles some day.

My sons only wanted the CPA rifles and barrels.
I had to dispose of all my Miller DeHass, 1885 Highwalls, Falling Block Works, Stevens 44 and 44 1/2, Meacham Hoch, Rolling Blocks, 1874 Sharps, BSA Martini Internationals, and numerous custom bolt action rifles when I was no longer able to leave the city or even go to a range.

However all those project rifles were an excellent investment and the buyers were ecstatic - wife got a new Subaru from the proceeds.

However every one of those rifles are still enjoyed in ones dreams even when ownership must change.

Nope, it was a real email from a friend. No guilty conscience here. No pistolas and no wives either.  Smiley
