Personal quandary ............. over the past several years of match competition I've experienced pretty good results shooting for SCORE; however, I feel my shooting for GROUP is mediocre at best. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Groups. I always considered that a HP BR thing so never took it serious and seldom enter a group match and I never do well when I do enter one.
My recommendation is to not shoot group matches.

Shooting for group and score are two different mindsets. At least they are for me. For score I use Kentucky Windage. For group I only shoot the same condition repeatedly or at least try my best Wink

We shoot group and score matches the ssme matches . The only thing I can say if your first shot is wild In a group match you can chase the hole. If your first shot is a 5 in a score match it's over.
But with that I much prefer score.

Cbashooter, your response is pertinent to my dilemma. With no ASSRA matches located convenient to my home in St Augustine, FL, I have begun shooting CBA matches in NC. As you pointed out, many matches consist of both score and group targets. Consequently, I must be proficient at both in order to be competitive. I feel I need to learn how to shoot groups more effectively.  I also much prefer score. Thanks for your insight.
