Stevens Model 44 1/2 Schuetzhen Rifle Value?

Print Post
Hi everyone👋
Say I have a 44 1/2 in 38-55, 219 Zipper & a 22lr Pope Schuetzen set up. I won the 1998 Quigley Down Under Long Range Match in Forsyth Montana with said 38-55. I have a boatload of brass & tons of various parts including levers, breeches, palm rests, sights, scopes, hooked butt plates, stocks, barrels, & for ends for her....any opinions on a realistic value would be much appreciated. Thank You

I purchased a CPA 44 1/2 with a Schuetzen lever, .32-40 barrel, .40-65 barrel, .40-60 Maynard barrel, a Silhouette stock and a Treebone Schuetzen stock for $US 1,800.

But then some might say I paid too much or others may say I did not pay enough.

But that is how the deal went down.

My question would be, how much would you be asking for the rifle setup if you were to decide to sell?

About the same price since everyone only wants to buy the receiver and one specific caliber barrel.

I sold the two extra barrels separately and the Treebone stock separately.

The parts are worth more sold separately than you can get for the package.

Selling the two .40 barrels together was basically worthless for one barrel in a package deal since not much difference between a .40-60 Maynard and a .40-65 WCF.

Well, you asked for opinions, so, here's mine. I think $3500 is closer to reality.

In the vintage Ford Mustang world people are trying to sell basket-case cars for what a  restored original will bring adding for all the extra parts they have acquired. The argument is "at the Jackson Barrett auction a similar brought $XXX". I have no interest in a ballard (lower case intended) but circa $3,000 seems reasonable to me.
