Borchardt Bucket list find

Picked up a Bridgeport Sharps 1880-ish Borchardt musket a couple weeks ago from a guy who had no idea what it was....thankfully for me...cuz I got it for a song...ok, ok, I stole it from him.  Last he knew...it had been hidden away in Grandpas safe for at least 60 years until his recent death.  Unbelievable shape and shoots like a dream.  I crossed out the load info...a work in progress!

Thank you sir,,,,and a pleasure to be here.
My introduction is brief as I know attention spans (for us old folks) are as well.  lol
Been shooting single shots since a pup growing up in Wyoming.
The only chance I get to reap the wisdom off these sites in in the winter when I am not competing from Colorado to the Left Coast.
I collect and shoot Original Winchesters, Sharps, Starr, and an occasional John Browning.  I look forward to sharing info and learning more that I dont know...which is alot...even for an old guy.  I shoot Black powder exclusively and wont even discuss smokeless.  Thats just me. Like Gramps use to say..."If you cant hit sh*t....aim at something else.  Cheers.

Good for you. It is a Sharps Borchardt model 1878.

How is the trigger?

By the serial #..made in 1880.  I'm a real stickler for finding out exactly what I have.  lol
Trigger is 2.5 to 3 as it stands.  I'll take it apart this winter and bring it down quite a bit.  I do it the exact same way BRC does it.
Shot it to 600 so far and it hits steel buffaloes just fine.

Nice rifle I would love to find one like that. All the ones I come across are pretty rough .
