Sure are. The quality of his work was outstanding. I am always looking for his rifles to buy.

You know as many firearms as he had handled I was shocked to find out about his accident. I had conversed with him about doing some work for me literally a few days before it happened. Have only seen one of his rifles but yes it was top quality. He was all about a roller. He is most assuredly missed.

Although he did some great work lets not make him a god. I had two of his rifles built on his action and they were nice. I am still shooting one of his in 50-70 built on a rem military action that is also nice but.... It has an odd dove-tailed piece of steel in the barrel under the forearm. I think he must have recycled a barrel into my rifle when he built it. I sent him the action and expected him to put a new barrel in it. FWIW: I received the rifle the day of his accident and from what I understand, the accident occurred with a Modern Sporting Rifle (AR15). He was pulling the loaded rifle out of his truck by the muzzle when it discharged.

That's how all my #1, #1 1/2, and #3 Remington forearms are also all attached. Pretty standard for Remington rifles in the late 1800's.

Does that dove-tailed chunk of steel look like this? That is how #1 Rem. sporters were originally  made. (At least all I have seen) My #1-1/2 is like that also. [/quote]

Now that I look at mine again it is clear he just recycled a barrel onto my rifle. He had to move the block for the forend forward so he just filled one cut and cut another.

Surely there is a special place in hell for such.
