No rear sight, only the Lyman Tang and the receiver has an over stamped "49" which can be seen behind the 44 1/2 stamp. Barrel is 28". I can only assume that the barrel was turned but never threaded for a "silencer" which was a popular fitting for 22 rifles until the Govt. banned them in the late 1980's. Although from the little;e history I could find, was probably done in the late 1940's. Home made wooden "Swiss" plate as well.

Back when that rifle was new, it was common the press or clamp on adapter to thread the suppressor on. Much more common on Rimfire chambered guns. The problem with that was fitting the adapter over the existing barrel just about guaranteed that the front sight would be useless. So turning the barrel down to have the adapter fit the barrel profile makes sense. It’s possible that the suppressor itself was a clamp on.

The video uses an interesting rifle for the example

Thanks for the links and the information, great stuff!
A similar push on mount was sold out here for BRNO rimfire rifles that used the front sight ramp as the locator to help position the silencer/suppressor.
