And then this little fellow showed up.

It's a flat spring action, Swiss butt, 32-40, #4 barrel, single set trigger, with Middlefield sights.  The bore has a little bit of pitting just in front of the chamber, but I'll bet it still shoots ok.

Neat! Don't look at the bore with a bore scope.  Wink

I hope I will be done one day.  I'm retired and on a budget Smiley.

Joe, I definitely don't plan on bore scoping it Smiley.  I have no idea what to expect for accuracy with it, but I'm hoping it'll be good enough for some informal offhand shooting.

Your latest highwall would be welcome in almost anyone's collection, good shooter or not.

If only I could find rifles like this, at least ones I can afford.

This one was reasonably cheap based on prices I see online.  I'm in Canada, but once you do the conversion it was about $2000.

I did some reading on the sights in my book.  Apparently the 103 tang sight is pretty hard to find and expensive these days.  It's apparently adjustable in windage and elevation with 1/2 minute adjustments.   The front globe sight looks to be a Parker Hale number 2 and I think inserts are still available.

Chris,
There's a lot worse things you can spend retirement budget on Grin
That day is fast approaching for me and with the help of another individual here it seems that my spending on these vintage rifles is accelerating... I'm going to have to move my retirement date a little further out because of it... Cool not that I'll every really retire, I'll just do less...

Really sweet acquisition, I'd like to hear how it shoots.
