While not a single shot rifle it is a single shot pistol. I want to try and build a barrel for my Contender pistol. I have some blank blocks sent to me by a gentleman and I can do all the machine work but it will need to be welded to the barrel. Is there anyone that could or would do this for me. Could be laser or tig welded.

Don't think you want to go welding on a barrel, shrinkage, loss of strength, etc.
Have an old Contender barrel. Block appears to be attached with hard silver solder or Sil-Phos.
Melting temperature of Silver solder is about the same as the temper temperature for 4140. Rc 28, so no significant strength loss.

Chuckster is right. I have used silver solder on many lugs and also welded a few. Welding can cause shrinkage and hard spots. Biggest problem with silver solder is using to much and allowing it to get into the extractor hole.

I know it can be done because I have done it at my old job. I used a .040 dia tungsten with filler as needed. My welds per spec. could not be more than .050 in width with a length tol. of plus or minus .050 and were x rayed so yes it can be done I just don't have any welding equipment. Mind you this was on aerospace components both steel and stainless. My barrel will be in 30 Herritt and 14 in. long. I know I can buy one I just wanted to see if I can build one.

No weld expert but I’ll ask would even Tig welding create the heat issues ?
