I have a #2RB in 22lr that has a bulged chamber. It came to me reblued, relined and with the chamber problem. Is it possible rechamber it to 22mag or convert it to a 22 centerfire (22hornet 218bee). I’m also ok with making making it a 32 centerfire or a 38/40. Any input would greatly appreciated.
Thanks Dave.

With a NEW barrel, I wouldn't have a problem chambering it in 22 Mag or even 22 Hornet, using PB lead bullets. 32 S&W long or 38 Special. Nothing larger.

If the liner was soldered in you could heat up the barrel and remove it from the barrel, then install a new liner.

The idea from Chris would be a great one.

As Chris said just sleeve the chamber. Get a good tight fit so it can't bulge again.

Sleeve the chamber, but stay under the diameter of the liner. I think.

What is the groove diameter of the barrel? If it is a true 22LR barrel you need to say with 22LR.

Since it bulged, it's possible there was a slight gap between barrel and liner at the chamber. I'd think just the opposite, and make sure to be larger than the liner to remove any issue that could be there.

Just a word of caution if you decide to remove a Soldered In Liner. Heat the barrel slowly and evenly. One spot that is not up to temp will hold the liner tight. One spot that gets Overheated will "Burn" the Solder and then you may never get it out. Learned when I would repair Water Lines and had to Reuse a Fitting that Slow and Steady is the Only Way to Go. Good luck 👍. David

When I removed the soldered in liner from my barrel, I placed it in my kitchen oven at 475 degrees for about 20 minutes, then used a short wooden dowel to push it out part way, then used pliers to pull it out the rest of the way.

Just out of curiosity, what brand of "kitchen oven" can accommodate a rifle barrel, at least of the length normally seen on a single shot, say at least 24" inches?
