	Ugly is to the bone. Here is my newest rat rifle on a very pitted receiver. Chambered in 32 Miller short with a barrel that has been set back at least 3 times by the previous owner. Jack

	And it looks like the flat spring mount dovetail was cut with a hacksaw. Maybe I should look for the giant nut that was on the end of the barrel when I got it. It adds character.

	Here it is in its original form from Chuck's estate. The action is now sporting a heavy 28 cal barrel.

	There is a 1/2" turned down section at the muzzle and the nut was bored out smooth to be a slip fit just to hold the front sight Unertl style mount it seems. Wes Turner was familiar with it from when the Canadians came to Tacoma to shoot.

	Ron Smith made the muzzles fatter on Canadian Schuetzen rifles than the rest of the barrel because removing the outside of the barrel can actually slightly increase the diameter of the bore. Removing less metal on the muzzle ensured the barrel would be choked at the muzzle. Was the nut Chuck's impression of beauty in a single shot? Kind of short for a bloop tube? Or his desire for a nutty rifle.

	All I'm sure of is that when Bev Pinney owned the rifle there was a nut at both ends. Jack, there are still some affordable homes out here.

I've been beat by him at Kenmore (CBA) and Tacoma (ASSRA). I remember the day at Kenmore when nothing was going right and he was going to open a lead mine at the muzzle as soon as the match was over. He shot a 399, out of 400 possible, and I forget how many X's. No sympathy after that.
