Thanks to all you Remington experts; Your info, observations and advice are very much appreciated!  I did line and chamber the No. 2 to its original .22 Long Rifle caliber and , as ndnchf predicted, it's a "tack driver".  So much fun to restore an old classic to it's original purpose!  Thanks again!

Another simple observation. The earlier production rifles used what are called flagged letter dies while the latest have more modern style letter without the flags.
