It is a cute case and if you are going to breech seat you only need a few cases. You already have one which is all you really need- 2nd case is just backup ! Run what you brung, see how it shoots and turn it into a 32-40 if you dont like it.

One of my concerns is that currently the breech block is a tad hard to close as it meets the end on the barrel.  I have reached out to a competent gunsmith to add the necessary dovetails for the forend and flatspring hangers and will also have him properly set the headspace.  If metal needs to be removed from the rear of the barrel AND the rim recess cut deeper AND no reamer available, I don’t want to Harlow this rifle myself.
It would be interesting to see if the current chambering can be made to work

My thoughts exactly - i.e., try it before you condemn it.

Well I decided to go with 32-40.  I had a conversation with Andy’s brother today and he filled me in on the history of the 32 1.6 chambering.  They decided to experiment with shot cases about 18 years ago due to the popularity of the 32 Miller class of chamberings that were  having much success.  However, Richard said their results were less than stellar so since l decided to have a competent smith cut the dovetails, fit an extractor and fix the headspace anyway, it would be easier to do the 32-40 chambering at the same time.
A boring choice I know but the smaller bore and fast twist will give me options that my other rifles don’t have.

If it's .33 caliber it will be a 33-40? I have a bunch of molds left over from my .33 days.
